Quote of the Day

Said Obama about the Republican Party:

"You can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig," he said to an outburst of laughter and applause from his audience in Lebanon, Va., Tuesday. "You can wrap an old fish in a piece of paper called change, but it's still going to stink after eight years."
Heh. Ain't THAT the truth.

from the AP:

"McCain camp: Obama's 'lipstick' remark disgraceful"

"McCain's campaign called the comments "offensive and disgraceful" and said Obama owes Palin an apology. Obama's campaign said he wasn't referring to Palin and said the GOP camp was engaging in a "pathetic attempt to play the gender card." Obama's camp also noted that McCain once used the same phrase to describe Hillary Rodham Clinton's health care plan."

[A "Pal" just contacted me about this "personal attack" on Sarah Palin, suggesting to me that I, as a woman, should be offended that he called a woman "a pig". I countered back by asking him what would he call an assertive confident woman, he said "what". I replied: "a bitch".]

This is SO the gender card in full swing. If Hillary had gotten the ticket, you know McCain's claws would be in her so quick while Palin would still be hunting moose in Alaska.

I knew as soon as I saw the comment that the McCain camp would call it a sexist jab. To be honest, I think Obama might have done this intentionally, just so he could level the "gender card" accusation against them. Pretty Clintonian, if you ask me.

Here is my recent post about the Palin pick:

What's funny is he DIDN'T say this about Palin. He said it about the Republicans in general.

This particular person told me that he actually likes Palin more than McCain. He said that Palin is "so good" that Obama has to make personal attacks instead of on the issues. [Why would Obama have to bother? The media is having enough fun between Trooper-gate, bridge to nowhere, reactionary fundy views, teen pregnancy...need I go on?]

I thought she set herself up with that pit-bull/hockey mom comparison and she should be a "big girl" and take it like a woman. If the McSame-ites want to say he was attacking Palin, then when they made the same comparison about Hillary's health plan, it's fair to say he was actually calling her a pig instead.
