20/20 Sarah Palin Interview

In this segment, Charlie Gibson and Palin discuss the economy, which Gibson calls "very sick" and Palin subtly "corrects" and calls "weak."

About five minutes in, after she's gone on and on about pretty much nothing, Gibson asks Palin to enumerate how she and McCain would help the economy. Her answer:

1. Reduce taxes.

2. Control spending.

3. Reform the oversight and the overseeing agencies and committees to make sure that America's dollars and investments are protected.
That's all very nice. Except how does that bring jobs back to the United States, the jobs the REPUBLICAN PARTY helped ship to India, China, Korea, and everywhere else BUT the United States, putting millions of people out of jobs (remember, the unemployment rate is now at 9.4 percent - in other words nearly one tenth of Americans are out of jobs and/or are having trouble finding jobs).

Controlling government spending and cutting taxes is a nice thing. It could even be a good thing if the government actually spends less than it brings in (Clinton years) rather than more than it brings in (Bush years).

AND she hints, pretty strongly, ignoring the question about getting rid of entitlements, that she DOES want to "streamline" (read - cut benefits even further) Medicare and Social Security.

Again, though, WHAT ABOUT BRINGING INDUSTRY AND JOBS BACK TO THE UNITED STATES TO PUT PEOPLE BACK TO WORK SO THEY ACTUALLY HAVE MONEY TO PROTECT???

Of course, no answer, complete evasion, in fact, on that...
