Stupid Seasonal Charedi-ism of the Week

Eating Pas Yisrael during Aseres Yemei Teshuva (the ten Days of Repentance beginning with Rosh Hashana and ending with Yom Kippur).

I know the Shulchan Aruch says it, and it's STILL dumb. As mentioned in this Torah.org article, the reasons are just ridiculous:

The Shulchan Aruch(O.C. 603:1) rules, however, that during aseres yemei teshuvah everyone should be careful to eat only pas Yisrael. There are several reasons,- all inter-related - for this halachah:
a) so that we conduct ourselves with an extra measure of purity during these Days of Awe;
b) to serve as a reminder of the unique status of these days;
c) to beseech Hashem not to judge us stringently, just as we have adopted a practice which is not strictly required of us.
So, what's the problem? It's akin to a guy going to his priest for confession, being told to say ten Hail Marys, or some such, and he is absolved. Then, the guy feels free to go do the same thing again (especially if it's something minor, like having sex). "Oh, Lord, PLEASE don't judge me too harshly! After all, look! I'm ONLY eating Pas Yisrael during these ten days!! See what a Tzaddik I am? (Oh, and never mind that I'm going to go back to eating Pas Palter on Motzei Yom Kippur...)" It belittles Judaism and halacha. If a person is going to eat ONLY PY, he should do so ALL YEAR 'ROUND, NOT JUST DURING THESE TEN DAYS.

The same stupid reasons apply to the chumra of eating/drinking ONLY Chalav Yisrael during this period as well.

And again, it's idiotic and wrong.
