Another Gay Pride Parade - A Chance for yet Another Chilul Hashem - Part II

See my part one on this topic here. Basically, I relate a story from Arutz 7 about the Jerusalem Police give the green light for another Gay Pride Parade. The Hareidim warned again of violence, giving them another chance to create a huge Chilul Hashem, as they had the first time around when they ran amok, burning dumpsters in the middle of streets and stabbing people who supported the parade, instead of doing their best to protest peacefully, and forgetting the dictum of "Divrei Chachamim B'Nachas Nishma'im - the words of the wise are peaceful."

So, instead of taking this chance to use as a tikkun for what they messed up last time, they warned in advance that again, there would be violence. Now, in this follow up article at Arutz 7, members of a committee set up to protest the Gay Pride Parade scheduled in Jerusalem on June 21, may indeed be using a different tactic. This committee, using signatures of big-time rabbanim in Eretz Yisrael, are stating they "will act legally, but if there is a demonstration by hundreds of thousands [against the march], the possibility of holding [it] in Jerusalem will be erased." They are planning a large protest at the gates of the city, and are hoping for about half a million people, giving protestors a (hopefully) non-violent outlet to protest the parade.

Let's hope they go through with actually doing things in a way that will create a Kiddush Hashem. It's not often a second chance comes along to right a wrong. Let's hope they take this chance and do the right thing.
