Tina Fey Nails it AGAIN!!!

I thought this was very funny--better than SNL's take on the presidential debate.

Before a few weeks ago, I didn't know Tina Fey could do impressions. She's not that type of comedienne. She just happens to have an astonishing resemblance to Palin, glasses and all. (If I have one thing good to say about Palin, it's that she, like Fey, has helped undo the myth that beautiful women can't wear glasses.) But she also gets the voice and mannerisms down perfectly, to the point that if I didn't know better I might really believe I was seeing Palin.

The Biden impersonator isn't up to par. I thought Latifah was a great choice for Ifill. She does blend into the background, but then so did Ifill during the debate.

The more I think about it, the more I believe Biden did a splendid job at the debate. Granted, people like you and me wanted him to attack Palin and expose her hypocrisy and lies. But I think his decision to go after McCain instead was a strategic move. Attacking Palin, even cogently, could have easily backfired. Moreover, the McCain team were probably expecting such attacks and had prepped Palin to counter them. She obviously was not prepared to counter Biden's attacks on McCain, which are bound to have a greater effect in the long-term.

But the best part of the debate was the most unexpected and, I'm sure, unplanned. It was when Biden began to cry when talking about the loss of his wife and daughter. He kept his composure, but the emotion was authentic. And he completely stole the moment from Palin, whose strength was supposed to be the ability to connect with voters. She could have seized on the moment with an appropriate reaction (for example, by offering condolences). But she didn't. She seemed oblivious. And that, more than anything, revealed her to be a phony.

One of the things about presidential debates is that what's most remembered about them is not who scored the most debating points, but the moments of drama: Gore rolling his eyes, Bush Senior looking at his watch, Clinton's "I feel your pain," Bentsen's "You're no Jack Kennedy," Reagan's "youth and inexperience" quip, and so on. It's not surprising that Biden did better on the debating front, but it is surprising he commanded the drama as well.

Ironically, so does my wife! It's REALLY scary!

When we watched the debate, I did make mention to wife that Biden's emotional moment was perfect.

Have you seen today's news, where Failin' Palin is attacking Obama, describing him as someone who has been "palling around with terrorist" because of an association with Ayers?

What an idiot. I bet Mc-Really-Bad-Choice is sitting in his office with his face in his hands crying, "Dear Lord! What have I done? WHAT HAVE I DONE?!"

Well, four weeks and two days to go to V-Day! Here's hoping for many happy returns! :)

My father-in-law wants to add an avinu malkeinu: Avinu Malkeinu, Kasveinu B'Sefer Nitzachon!

I told you about this earlier, but I still hold to it. You really don't need to satirize Sarah Palin; her sound bites ALONE give enough fodder.
