How About a GOOD Bailout Idea?

You know, I keep watching and reading about this horrible bailout the government's been debating. I'm against it, despite the fact it's supposed to stabilize not just the American economy, but the world economy as well, and it's designed to help avert a worldwide depression, one that would probably completely eclipse the Great Depression.

And yet, I'm STILL against it. First, a large portion of the world hates us. Second, it's time for the United States to take care of the United States. Yes, I'm aware it's VERY humanitarian to help out other nations, but, in truth, most of those nations can care for themselves, including, but not limited to, China, Japan, and the insanely wealthy Arab countries.

Instead, I have a better idea, along the lines of helping out Americans. How about the government use this money, or a portion of it, to help alleviate the debt in which AMERICANS have become entangled. How about the government, you know the one of, by, and for the PEOPLE actually help a huge majority of its constituency and help the huge majority of us who are in debt not because of wanton spending but because many of us actually use credit cards to by groceries, gas, and pay bills. Yes, it sucks. But so has living as a middle or working class family in America for the last several years.

So, dear government, MY government, the one of, by, and for the PEOPLE. How about bailing the REST OF US out so we start to breathe easier again? I'm not saying to pay off people's mortgages. I'm saying, clean everyone's credit card debt clean, give a new, clean slate, hold interest levels at something normal (like seven or eight percent), and give us ALL a chance to recover. And for those who have those sub-prime mortgages, how about a little relief for them as well? How about fixing those rates and something manageable, perhaps lowering some of the principle, and helping AMERICANS get back on their feet again? How about a bailout for, as Sarah Failin' called us, "Joe Six Pack" (though I find the term VERY offensive - it's that assumption we all sit back guzzling six packs of beer all the time - personally, I don't even have the stuff in my house!).

Now, I don't know about the rest of you out there with huge debt, but my wife and I would actually be able to get by on her salary, making any commissions I manage to make selling medical imaging equipment a nice bonus.

So, think the government would go a bailout that would TRULY help the American people and out economy?

Yeah. Right. Like THAT'S gonna happen. It'd be nice, it'd be a second chance for a HUGE number of us, but it's NEVER gonna happen. Know why? Because there's a secret NONE OF US is supposed to know: Our government isn't, and never has been, of, by, OR for the people.

And, I'm sorry to say, I include the Democrats here as well as the Republicans.

The financiers are desperately trying to snooker us again. We, the taxpayers, will never see that money once Congress caves in to special interests, (as usual). If we try to get it back by taxing these businesses, then they will take the good parts of their portfolios and flee to other countries. Suckers!

If we use that money to enhance social security, then all of the retirees that lost their retirement funds in the stock market will at least be guaranteed a reasonably comfortable retirement. (The only ones who will still be unhappy are the ones trying to retire to their mansions.)

Finally! Congress has found the money to make social security work.

Let Congress know that if they get fooled by this bailout, then the only thing for voters to do is punish congress the way it was punished for the gulf war.

Yes, but like I said, it won't be used for you, me, or anyone else "unimportant." So much for John McCain believing in the "American worker" strong fundamental of our economy... :(
