- As I will tell people, I am a Halacha following Jew. Don't try to niche me. You won't be able to. Many have tried, all have failed. I created this blog to discuss the problems proliferating and dividing Klal Yisrael. And, it turns out, to discuss and write about other things too! Although, politics and Yiddishkeit seem to go hand-in-hand these days, don't they? My wife and I moved to the Midwest in June 2005 in search of a more affordable, yet still frum lifestyle. And as you know, the telethon is coming up. Sunday the ninth.
Irrespective of whether or not rabbi c and his sons are nice people, would you say that money donated to the telethon is well spent?
I've always rather like the idea of a non-denominational drug-treatment center, which is one of their causes. And the other things they busk for are also good causes, tho' some have a more limited sectarian purpose than others.
Assuming, of course, he doesn't skim off the top, no, I have no issue with the telethon other than an Orthodox Rabbi making a complete fool of himself on national tv...:)

I take it you don't watch much religious broadcasting (smiley here)?
At least there are no choirs wearing powder blue tuxes with wide lapels (the males) and rose-pink moomoos (the females) singing shmaltzy hymns in sepulchral tones. With.... one.... token.... black person.... of.... each.... gender... in the choir, just to prove that no sirree they're integrated.
And dancing rabbis are so much better than fire-and-brimstone 'Jayzuslovesya butyer gonna go ta hayl anyways' sermons.
The telethon is the only exposure many of us get to any kind of rebbeim..... most of us goyim are kinda in the dark as far as the other necks of the religious woods.

Still, non-denominational drug treatment centre. As usual, I'll make my leap of faith and donate.
