Progressives: Don't Take This Election for Granted...

Watch this.

Then donate either directly to Obama's campaign or to MoveOn.org.

I don't normally do something like this, but McCain must NOT be allowed to become president. The Right has GOT to go. Otherwise this country as we know it is doomed.

And Jewish folks out there, don't think IT couldn't happen here. That's what they said about Poland, Spain, Germany, and countless other countries.

Another Mistake Obama's Been Making

Oh, yeah. There's another mistake Obama and his campaign have been making. Along with being on the defensive WAY too much of the time, Obama and his campaign REALLY need to stop praising John McCain and saying what a great guy he is, despite McSame's desire to continue the same disastrous policies of the Bush administration, thereby further plunging this country into a dark age.

Mr. Obama, STOP PRAISING McCAIN! Yes, he's a great guy, a wonderful patriot, an ex POW, and all that. But EVERY TIME YOU MENTION THIS, YOU ARE BASICALLY TELLING VOTERS IT WOULDN'T BE SO BAD TO VOTE FOR McCAIN! In fact, when you say all that, as you often do, anything you say afterward, about what a mistake it would be to vote for McCain, pretty much goes unheard because YOU have planted the idea in your audience's collective head that McCain wouldn't be so bad.

This is NOT the message the Obama campaign needs to be spreading. We all have respect for McCain. We all know his record.

Now it's time to stop praising the man and start ripping, UNMERCIFULLY, into McCain, his party, and his policy. It's the ONLY way the Democrats will win the White House.

And you know what? That's not called negative campaigning. It's called winning the White House back from thieves.

And it's no less than what McCain himself is doing. That's why he's gaining in the polls, and that's why Obama's campaign continuing on its present course could very easily spell disaster.

And it in no way means Obama needs to lose his message of hope and change. These two main themes of his campaign can work VERY WELL in unmercifully ripping into McCain and HIS campaign.

Typical American Attitude: Let's Drink and/or Watch Sports to Forget...

What a dumb attitude. The economy here is in a slump. The dollar is becoming worth less every day. Gas prices, though going down a bit, are still insane (I'm sorry, but going down to $3.70 a gallon doesn't make it "better" when prices less than a year ago were a dollar less and three years ago UNDER two dollars...).

So, what do Americans do? They watch sports to forget:Phelps amazes world with Beijing eight. To quote some idiot, which is EXACTLY what the Chinese, who pretty much rule our economy at this point, want from Americans: to forget...

Phelps achievement has dazzled the Chinese hosts, for whom eight is a lucky number, and brought welcome cheer to Americans during hard times.

"The economy and gas prices are always on your mind but Michael's success helps you forget depressing things," Los Angeles resident Samantha Higgins said among tens of millions glued to Phelps's every race on TV in the United States.
Oh. Goody. Dude won eight gold medals (and I don't begrudge him AT ALl; I think it's GREAT!!!), and we can all forget about the all the problems facing this country: Gas prices, the economy, healthcare, Republicans, etc.

Hey, man. Let's drink and watch sports. It'll help us forget... Yeah. Real intelligent.

Obama Nation...

Well, Jerome Corsi, the ever so brilliant anti-Progressive, anti-Democrat, anti-American "Scholar" with, believe it or not, a PhD, has come out with his election year bestseller, Obama Nation. Completely expectedly, the book is chock full of complete lies and Lashon Hara about Barack Obama. He even claims, as complete truth as far is he is concerned, that, yes, Obama is a Muslim.

Corsi's anti-Kerry book in 2004, also completely filled with lies, lost Kerry the election. Well, that, and the Republicans stealing Ohio (for which there are actually Ohio ex-election officials sitting in jail today), which they were able to do because Kerry did not have the decisive victory he should have had. The problem with books like this (I mean, after all, it IS written be a person with a PhD, so it MUST be true), is it can, as it did in 2004, completely derail an election. It is Karl Rove fear-mongering at its worst, and will do great damage to the Obama campaign, not because people will necessarily believe it, but because it will plant seeds of doubt in people's minds.

It's really a brilliant tactic. It puts the Obama campaign on the defensive before the campaign even truly gets started. It does NOT allow Obama to run an offensive campaign.

Unfortunately, the book can't, and won't, be ignored by the Obama campaign, and time spent debunking the lies in this travesty of scholarly crap will be time NOT spent campaigning against McBush and the disastrous policies yet another four years of Republican rule he'll bring to the White House and the United States.

The sad thing is, the REAL abomination is people like Corsi and their publishers. I understand freedom of speech, but how does any respectable publishing company (and this book is published by Simon & Schuster) allow a this slime to even reach the editing stage, much less the publishing stage?!

Obama now has a choice. He's either going to have to work hard and have his campaign devote too much time to debunking slime, or he's going to have to just ignore the book, considering all the lies in it have already been debunked, and trust in the American people to actually believe the truth, not the slime.

Unfortunately, I don't think the vast majority of Americans will have the judgement to say, "Yeah, this Corsi is REALLY dumb, a liar, and an idiot to boot, and, partly because of him, the country is in the mess it's in now, because his last book pretty much allowed Bush to steal the White House a second time..."

Sad. Very sad. Perhaps in 2016 (because I STILL think, despite Corsi's best efforts, that Obama WILL win this election and the one in 2012), the Democrats will just have someone write a book before Corsi's NEXT one comes out, this one filled with actual truths about the Republican nominee, his (or hers) party, and how they've worked so hard to destroy the American dream and the American way of life.

Tu B'Av - The Fifteenth Day of Av

I haven't, and don't really any longer, blogged about problems in the Chareidi/Yeshivish world because, quite frankly, as I've mentioned before, they're just NOT frum in any way, and do not in ANY WAY represent ANYTHING to do with Orthodox Judaism. Having Torah knowledge, as I will admit many of them do, does not make them nice, good, or frum at all. The proof are all the stories surrounding the destruction of the second Bais Hamikdash.

HOWever, there is a problem in that world that will eventually cause their destruction. That problem is they conveniently ignore many parts of Torah that don't QUITE fit with their "ideal" way of "Torah True" (read sarcastically, please) Judaism. A general example of this is is the ignoring of the halachas pertaining to how one person treats another - the halachas of Bein Adam L'Chaveiro. Another is the blanket policy of NOT learning Nevi'im and Kesuvim, thus ignoring two thirds of our basic Bible (more really, because there's a lot more NACH than there is Torah).

Another is the Tu B'Av theme. It has to do with the Yeshivish/Chareidi shidduch world/crisis. Yeshiva boys are, these days, told to look for an exceedingly attractive girl whose parents are rich. Those parents' roles in the young couple's life will be to support said couple for as long as said couple demands, while the boy sits on his ass in Yeshiva making a nothing out of himself.

This is in direct opposition to the theme of Tu B'Av, when the girls of Jerusalem would borrow white clothing from one another and, according to the last Mishnah in maseches Ta'anis, go out and dance and choose based on the girls' merits, not their money.

Oh, well. Just another piece of evidence, as I said above, that this world is simply in no way Torah adherent.

Two Websites Worth Checking Out...

This is one is to show how incredibly STUPID die-hard Hillary people are. It's called "Just Say No Deal."

I don't get it. Hillary capitulated. Even if the delegates from Florida and Michigan HAD been seated, Obama would have won. Hillary is begging her supporters to vote for Obama. The Democratic Party needs to be united, but idiots like those on the "Just Say No Deal" site are working hard, instead, to divide the party, even to vote for McSchmuck, rather than vote for the Democratic nominee who was, 95% of the time in agreement with Hillary (the only thing they REALLY disagreed on was healthcare reform). Which brings me to the next website, The Denver Group. This is one more intelligent, and isn't so much an anti-Obama, we love Hillary site so much as it is, as described by one of its co-founders as a "Democratic Party get-your-act-together support group."

This is something many of us have been screaming for for years. The Democratic Party has not had it together since the 2000 election, and this needs to change. The consequence of NOT getting it together is allowing the Republicans yet another, at least, four years in power. This is unacceptable.

Contraceptives - a Type of Abortion That Should NOT be Covered by Insurance - Republicans

From Moveon.org:

Dear MoveOn member,

Can you imagine living in a place where birth control is considered an "abortion" and health insurers won't cover it? Where even rape victims are denied emergency contraception?

It seems unbelievable, but the Bush Administration is quietly trying to redefine "abortion" to include birth control. The Houston Chronicle says this could wipe out dozens of state laws that protect women's reproductive freedom and protect rape victims.1 Access to basic health care for millions of women would be jeopardized. And it's being pushed as a "rule change"meaning, it doesn't need congressional approval.

Can you sign an emergency message to Health and Human Services Secretary Mike Leavitt, whose department is considering this rule change right now? Tell him: "Contraception is NOT abortion. The Bush Administration's proposal to change the definition of abortion and reduce women's access to birth control must be stopped."

Clicking here will add your name to this message:

The best way to beat back this proposal is to show Secretary Leavitt massive public outragethat's why today we're launching this petition jointly with Planned Parenthood Action Fund. Together, we'll deliver every signature to Leavitt. You can help add to our momentum by forwarding this message to friends.

Here's what some others are saying about this proposal:

The draft regulation would define birth control as abortion...it could deny access to critical family planning for women across the country.Letter signed by Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, and 26 other senators.2

The draft rule could void laws in 27 states that require insurance companies to provide birth control coverage for women requesting it [and] laws in 14 states requiring that rape victims receive counseling and access to emergency, day-after contraceptives.Houston Chronicle editorial3

The administration needs to stop playing word games with women's health and state clearly they will reject any regulations that will undermine women's access to basic health care.Cecile Richards, president of Planned Parenthood Federation of America.4

[It's] a spectacular act of complicity with the religious right... RH Reality Check, Information and Analysis for Reproductive Health5

The birth control pill, the IUD, and emergency contraception might all become unavailableillegalas a result.Brigid Riley, executive director of a Minnesota teen pregnancy prevention organization6

Can you help send a loud message to Secretary Leavitt that birth control is NOT abortion? Clicking here will sign your name:

McCain - Anti-American

Did you know McCain not only opposes, but STRONGLY opposes the government's "Buy American" rules? And he opposes them because they're "protectionist" trade policies:

“I firmly object to all ‘Buy America’ restrictions, as they represent gross examples of protectionist trade policy,” McCain said on the Senate floor in 2005. “From a philosophical point of view, I oppose such policies because free trade is an important element in improving relations among all nations, which then improves the security of our nation. Furthermore, as a fiscal conservative, I want to ensure our government gets the best deal for taxpayers and with a ‘Buy American’ restriction, that cannot be guaranteed.”
Except for one problem, John Mc-Hates-America: Those "protectionist policies" are what used to make America economically strong. Being against those has made the US weak, made big business more powerful and less patriotic, and has made potentially enemy states (like China) incredibly powerful.

And this is GOOD for America?! I'm sorry, John, but you're a McIdiot.

Great Article About Brilliant but Cancelled Sci Fi Shows

I'm only including the shows I personally enjoyed very much. They WERE great, and cancelled well before their time. Especially Nowhere Man... Click to read entire article.

Wire's Top 10 Brilliant But Canceled

It's the sad fate of every science fiction fan to fall in love with amazing, creative television shows only to see them struggle in the ratings and eventually disappear into the land of repeats and DVD box sets ("Own the complete series for just $24.95!").

It happened just this spring for Jericho fans, who got a mini-reprieve of seven episodes thanks to a whole lot of nuts (the kind you eat, not the fans themselves), but they too would eventually see their show ride off into the sunset like so many others before it. For too many of these on-the-bubble shows, the bubble popped before the rest of the world caught on to the genius that went into them. Fortunately, they live on in the memories of fans, including those of us here at SCI FI Wire.

We now present a list of the top 10 brilliant-but-canceled SF&F shows, as determined by SCI FI Wire's news editor and contributors. For the purposes of this list, the selections were made based on quality network shows that were not renewed after their first season. Bonus fan points (and sympathy hugs) if you remember them all.

4. Alien Nation, created by Kenneth Johnson. Fox. Original run: September 1989 to May 1990. Number of episodes: 22

The not-so-subtle pun in the title gives some indication of the allegorical themes at work in this series, based on the film of the same name. Picking up where the film left off, the show is set in a world where an alien slave ship has crashed on Earth and left its passengers stranded. F

orced to assimilate into human society, they encounter the same kinds of struggles as any every other immigrant group throughout history. Except that they get drunk on sour milk and require three partners to procreate. Through the mixed-species partnership of a pair of police detectives--one human, one alien--the show explored issues of immigration, racism and cultural identity. Although it was canceled after one season due to budgetary pressures, Fox did bring it back in a series of five television movies.

5. Space: Above and Beyond, created by Glen Morgan and James Wong. Fox. Original run: September 1995 to June 1996. Number of episodes: 24

This futuristic war drama followed a squadron of marines known as the Wildcards aboard the USS Saratoga, the space-faring equivalent of an aircraft carrier. In addition to an alien threat and rebel AI mercenaries, the soldiers also faced conflicts closer to home, with the introduction of artificially bred humans and a potential government conspiracy. The show's dark tone, desaturated look, military backdrop and exploration of complex topics such as the moral ambiguity of war make this a predecessor of sorts to the more successful Battlestar Galactica. But back in 1995, the public wasn't quite ready for this kind of series, and the show failed to attract an audience wide enough to justify renewal.

6. The Adventures of Brisco County Jr., created by Jeffrey Boam and Carlton Cuse. Fox. Original run: August 1993 to May 1994. Number of episodes: 27

Clever writing, great production values and a brilliant turn in the title role by the one and only Bruce Campbell made this genre-bending SF-western-comedy a pleasure for those who were hip to its self-referential humor, witty dialogue and memorable performances. Unfortunately, that didn't include most of the viewing audience. Fox scheduled the show on Friday nights, a timeslot notorious for low ratings, with the exception of The X-Files, which just happened to premiere the same year. Seems that the network could only afford to take a chance on one low-rated show, and we all know how that turned out, so they're probably not regretting their decision (though they may be regretting that second movie right about now).

7. American Gothic, created by Shaun Cassidy. CBS. Original run: September 1995 to July 1996. Number of episodes: 22

Moody, atmospheric and sinister, this show from creator Cassidy and executive producer Sam Raimi was the epitome of subtle, character-driven horror. Featuring career-making performances by Gary Cole and Lucas Black, the series centered on a boy (Black) whose soul is desperately sought by the competing forces of good--represented by a small-town doctor and the ghost of the boy's dead sister--and evil--represented by Cole as the demonic Sheriff Buck. Notable veterans of this promising, terminated-before-its-time show also include Battlestar Galactica's David Eick and Oscar winner Stephen Gaghan (Traffic).

9. Nowhere Man, created by Lawrence Hertzog. UPN. Original run: August 1995 to May 1996. Number of episodes: 25

One of the most frustrating things that can happen when a show is yanked before its time is a denial of answers to a big, overarching mystery. That's what happened in the case of Nowhere Man, about a photographer (played by Bruce Greenwood) who takes a controversial picture in a South American war zone and suddenly finds his identity erased by a covert, possibly governmental, organization. Nowhere Man incorporated elements of The Fugitive and The Prisoner, but unlike those shows, it never got an epic final episode, leaving fans (dozens of them) to wonder forever (or for a few weeks, at least) about the significance of that fateful photograph.
Alien Nation? GREAT show. Hilarious, men being pregnant, great puns.

Space Above and Beyond? Pretty gritty, really good science fiction. As the article mentions, the world just wasn't quite ready for what Battlestar Galactica would do a decade or so later.

The Adventures of Brisco County Jr.? You've got to just watch it. It was absolutely brilliant and the perfect role for Bruce Campbell.

American Gothic? Pure evil. Awesome to watch.

Nowhere Man? Breath-holder. Also sucked that it got cancelled well before its time.

Some of these shows can be seen at Hulu, com.

Found the Israel Nissan Tiida (Versa) Ad on YouTube...

I don't know how long it'll be up, but enjoy while you can:

A bunch of Arabs exit a building, heading for their limo, see the Tiida (Versa in the US), and begin attacking it, screaming and cursing at it.

Translation of the Hebrew subtitles:

Subtitle one: "You destroyed my home! God will destroy your home!" (House here meaning legacy, wealth, etc)

Subtitle two: "May the Nazis persecute you day and night!"

Subtitle three: "May the hot sun melt you!"

Subtitle four: "And the one who manufactured you!"

Subtitle five: "May God take you!"

Announcer: "When you're the most fuel efficient, it's clear that those with fuel rights (i.e., oil producers) won't love you. Nissan Tiida. The Japanese family automatic 1,600 (as opposed to stick-shift) - the most fuel efficient. Nissan. Thinking outside the box."

Subtitle six: "Cursed is the father of the Tiida."

GREAT Ad in Israel

I just found this article on Arutz 7. It's about an ad that was running in Israel:

Israeli Ad Pulled Due to Saudi Pressure

by Nissan Ratzlav-Katz

Nissan Motor Company has asked its Israeli distributor to pull a local television commercial for the new Nissan Tiida (sold in the U.S. under the name Versa). The decision came after a Saudi Arabian official threatened Nissan with a region-wide boycott.

The commercial, produced by the firm of Inbar-Merhav-Shaked, depicts a group of Gulf Arabs in traditional dress and surrounded by bodyguards attacking a Tiida compact. After hitting, cursing and throwing a shoe at the car, the protagonist is pulled away as a voice-over says, "When you are the most fuel efficient, it's clear that you won't be loved by the oil emirates."
Unfortunately, the ad WAS pulled:
The Japan Times of August 9 quoted a Nissan spokesman in Japan as saying, "The commercial was produced by a local automobile distributor based on its own judgment, and Nissan Motor has nothing to do with the commercial." Daniella Raybenbach, spokesperson for Nissan Israel, confirmed that they had received a request to kill the ad.

Upon the release of the commercial earlier this month, Saudi Arabia's Dubai-based MBC TV quoted a Saudi official as saying, "It's my opinion that Nissan made a huge error by igniting these [racist] instincts. We need to apply punishments... against these things. In order for Nissan to keep its interests in the region, it must apologize." Other Arabic newspapers followed suit in calling for a boycott of Nissan.

The Nissan Company's corporate website claims that it "is one of the most popular and successful automobile brands" in Saudi Arabia. In June 1994, Nissan "set up a regional Middle East headquarters in Dubai, thus becoming the first Japanese car manufacturer to accomplish this feat," the website boasts.
Funny, I don't seem to ever recall the Arabs pulling ads ISRAEL didn't like...

Elitist Vacation

Obama Takes Elitist Vacation...

NOT!!!

Yes, he went to Hawaii, but so do millions of others per year. Even my parents, who've never been anywhere CLOSE to wealthy, have vacationed in Hawaii a couple of times.

On the other hand, as the above article states, Obama, unlike our Governor Bush, doesn't own any family compounds and unlike McElite himself, doesn't own several homes and ranches across the country.

Every time I hear the Republicans say how "elitist" liberals are, I think of this great quote I read by Jon Stewart:

The Christian Right always throws around this term " the liberal elite." I keep thinking to myself, what's more elite than believing only you will go to heaven?
That just says it all, don't it?

The Tish'a B'Av Fallacy

I hear a story once. A town was in danger of being flooded. Everyone was ordered to evacuate. But one person wouldn't leave. First, a police car came by to implore the man to leave. He wouldn't, saying God would save him. The flooding started, and a rescue boat came along, imploring him to jump in. He wouldn't, insisting again God would save him. The waters rose, and the man was forced unto the roof of his house. A helicopter came to save him, but the man wouldn't get on, insisting yet again that God would save him! Finally, the waters rose above the man's head and he drowned. When he reached the Heaven, the angels brought him before God for his final judgement. The man complained to God, "I had such faith in You that You would save me, but you didn't and I died!" And God said, "But I sent the car, the boat, and the helicopter to you to save you! Why did you refuse to get on?" "I was waiting for a true miracle!" the man replied. "And what did you think the car, the boat, and the helicopter WERE?!" retorted the Lord. I guess the guy was looking for angels on a cloud or something. It's kind of like those nutty sects that don't believe in medical care because if God wills it, the person will simply get better. Never mind that, since God willed medicine, OBVIOUSLY God wills a person to get better...

Same thing with Tish'a B'Av. As I mentioned earlier during the Three Weeks, I think they all got it wrong. I think the Ba'alei Ha'Kinos got it wrong by focusing on "OY! MEH HAYA LANU!!" - "Woe is us! Look what has befallen us!!" Instead, they should have focused on what can be done.

But the "Three Oaths," about which I've written several times (and you can link to my posts about those through the link above), have constrained everyone, especially those of the Chareidi world. Everyone's waiting for a miracle. They're all waiting for Moshiach to arrive on a cloud and lead us all to the promised land on the wings of eagles.

I'm sorry, but it's just NOT going to happen that way. The miracle has been happening for about three hundred years, beginning with the emancipation of the Jews in Europe during the 18th century. It began with the secular Zionist movement that asked the rabbanim of the time to join them for a mass migration to the Holy Land. Those Rabbanim said no, and chief among them was Rav Shamshon Rafael Hirsch. He was worried about appearances, instead of realizing he could infuse some Torah into the-then completely secular Zionist movement. The Rabbanim, knowing there was something bad for the Jews waiting to happen just over the horizon, told the Jews to stay put instead of getting out. We all know how that ended: with the nearly complete destruction of European Jewry. It continued after the Holocaust with the creation of the state of Israel.

God has been trying to ease the world into a time of Moshiach and Geula for quite a while, now. But instead of embracing the car, the boat, and the helicopter, Orthodox Jewry just keeps crying, "OY! MEH HAYA LANU!!" instead of actually realizing we DON'T NEED TO DO THIS ANYMORE!!!

The Jews keep crying, "OY!! MEH HAYA LANU!!!" and God keeps sending more and more rescues, only to be rejected by so many "gedolim." It's ridiculous! Stop crying "OY!! MEH HAYA LANU!!" and start realizing it's NO LONGER NECESSARY!! Instead of worrying about the so-called "constraints" of the so-call "three oaths," which have become null and void centuries ago, and start realizing those constraints are no longer (if they were EVER) there! This mentality of "we deserve to be in golus forever" is insane, self-destructive, and just plain stupid.

And I think, with this mentality, we lose the entire lesson of Tish'a B'Av. Stop crying about the golus and start actually realizing Hashem is BRINGING forth a geula. instead of rejecting the miracles God has sent because they want something far more spectacular, start accepting what God offers. It's NOT going to be blatant. But I think it IS pretty obvious.

And it's just another reason I think the so-called "three oaths" are just wrong and completely off-base. All it HAS been for the last fifteen hundred years is an excuse to keep things in the status quo or golus and misery, because that's what Jews seem to love, golus and misery.

Is this a "slippery slope" I'm on? I don't think so. I think the "slippery slope" is on the other side, the one that keeps everyone under the thumb of the rabbis, the one that keeps everyone in fear of changing anything. THAT is a slippery slope...

John Edwards Admits Affair

John Edwards admits affair. Well. I guess this pretty much kills any chances of having John Edwards run as VP on the Obama ticket...

No wonder he repeatedly said no. He knew this was going to come out sooner or later.

What's sad than cheater on one's spouse is cheating on one's fatally ill spouse. That's just low.

See? I can criticize Democrats as well... I hate to do it, but I can and will.

GREAT Bumper Sticker

Anyone seen this one? It's really great. I can just imagine aliens observing the Idiot in the White House. That would probably be their reaction...

Republican Double Standard

Anyone out there catch this One? Except for one problem. Congress' approval rating is so low because the Idiot in the White House vetoes nearly every bill that comes out of Congress, and the Democrats simply don't have enough of a majority to override the Idiot's veto, and the Idiot is holding his veto power over their heads to stop them from getting anything productive done, unless it's good for Republican interests. This is called a double standard. However, come November, I think there's going to be a very different story. Hopefully, Obama will win, and more of Congress (both House and Senate) will go to the Democrats, finally giving the Democrats the opportunity to clean up the Republican mess of the last fourteen years.

Paper Towels, Plastic Forks, and Lingerie...

So, I go to Target this morning to find the store has been rearranged, which drives me, and probably most people, nuts. When I asked where the paper towels and plastic forks were, the Target associate told me they were next to the lingerie. Great! No problem! I LOVE lingerie!

I asked her, though, why they moved these items, and she told me it was in order to make room for more bedding so all the bedding could be in one place (up until now, the kids' bedding was on a different floor). She told me they're rearranging the store to make stuff easier to find in more logical places.

Great! But paper towels, plastic forks, and lingerie?! How, precisely, do those go together? :)

An Article Obama and His Campaign Should Take to Heart

It'll pretty much guarantee him the win in November.

He's got to remember: It's NOT a done deal...

Paris Responds

Remember this? It's that really stupid "Celebrity" ad McNonsense released last week.

Well, Paris Hilton decided to respond:

Go Paris. Funny thing, HER energy idea makes a bit of sense. McDoofus already ridiculed it. Maybe Obama will say, "Hmm, hadn't thought of THAT," and actually make it work... :)

Good for Obama, bad for McHates-the-Midwest

McCain opposes farm policies popular in Midwest.

Here's something about which I've been thinking of late. Perhaps it's naive, but promising to oppose a bill popular to ALL the constituents to whom that bill pertains is kind of stupid, would one not think? I mean, if the majority, the vast majority, of the Midwest farming community wants this bill, it's probably NOT something the president should oppose, especially when it's backed by BOTH parties in the Senate.

In other words, we're the people. It's OUR government. At least in theory. WE have the right to dictate what happens and HOW our government governs. And when that government makes blanket statements that will screw lots of people, the PEOPLE have the right to simply say NO. Hopefully that's what'll happen with McCain and we'll actually GET a government OF the people and FOR the people.

The Republicans will then have learned their lesson: Stop fucking the people. We don't like it.
