Some thoughts about the Three Weeks

Hey, Folks! I have lots to say about the Three Weeks, which have, unfortunately, started again today. Over the next few weeks, I will try to post thoughts about why have to observe them again, where we are, where we came from with all this, and where it seems we are going to end up at the end of the day.

I'll start with this: This is a period of time when we mourn many tragedies that have befallen us over the last 3319 years, basically, since the Exodus from Egypt.
And, while it is appropriate to mourn all these tragedies, which were, after all, not all that lightweight at all, I think we've missed a very important point in all of it. These days and weeks are not here simply for us to mourn the past. They are here for to MAKE UP FOR IT. They are still here, now, 3319 years later, and all those years in between, not just as days of mourning, BUT AS A CALL TO TESHUVA!
As I was saying Slichos this morning, I noticed a lot of lamenting about what has happened to us over the course of history, but very little about the WHY, the reasons for what happened. Only one sentence actually glared out at me, one appropriate to the name of the this blog. It states that we stiffened our neck, therefore many tragedies have happened. That's it: Kishinu Oref - we were, and still are, an AM KSHE OREF.
More about this soon...
